It had its glory days in the 2010s, even with a flagship office on 5th Avenue. Since then, Grey has steadily shrunk in the US, first moving under AKQA and now under Ogilvy. They may still be stronger in some international markets, but in the US the presence and momentum aren’t what they used to be. Personally, it’s not a place I’d choose to work today.
Avoid Modelo, snakes as managers, high rotation. No creatives apart from the ECDs stay there for more than a year — some are let go because they don't like them aka they don't give up their whole lives for the agency, some can't take it any longer and flee.
I’m surprised to hear this
Good work life balance and authentic caring people. I disagree with the comment above on Modelo, I was part of that team for a while and it was amazing, but maybe it's changed now. Creatively Grey is not the strongest and financially.. there was another round of layoffs last week..
I would encourage for work/balance to look at independent shops. I won’t ever work a private equity packed firm again after my experience. I’m also okay with not working on Super Bowl caan level work bc I’m not a creative so I might have a different perspective.
So much of what led to and sustained the high times they had during the Tor years was style over substance. And you can carry that a long long way to get great work done in a field such as this. But it’s doesn’t hold up over time when you need to maintain the high times to pay off the cats who got fat on the way up. People leave, new poisonous people are brought in, and boom. It’s over.
Happy to have been there in the high times. But how you recreate that in this environment is beyond me.
Lowball like crazy

Are we even hiring? I thought there was a freeze and we just had layoffs
I guess that’s another way to say no, not solid financially. There are barely any bodies left on the floor
