Any tips for a senior solution consultant Interview at Salesforce ?

I’ve been told there will be three interviews:
1) Consultant Fit 2) Technical 3) Panel Presentation

It’s been a big goal and dream of mine to work at Salesforce. I’m ecstatic to have had the opportunity to interview - anything helps!!

I feel like I might be able to add some perspective here as I recently interviewed with Salesforce for a Systems Engineer position.

The first interview after the initial screening with a recruiter went very well. The hiring manager gave me great insight into the team and the overall mission and was impressed with my skillset, goals, and experience.

The following two interviews were technical, and they were both a mess. For reference, I hold 7 Salesforce certifications and have 5 years of experience specifically with SFDC, more in overall IT. Each interview was 45 minutes of non-stop technical questions that you’d find on the Admin exam. I had about 15 seconds per question to give an answer or explain my thought process before being interrupted by the interviewers to move on to the next question. I have years of experience working with offshore development teams, and even still there was a language barrier that made things a little more complicated. For a position investigating tier 3 production deployment issues, I was surprised how much focus was on entry level gotcha questions about things like report types and page layouts.

I withdrew myself from consideration shortly after the interview, but probably would have gotten a rejection anyway. I too dreamed of working at Salesforce and my interview process really changed that for me. I can’t speak to the Solution Consultant role obviously, but interviewing with Slalom was a way better experience than Salesforce.

I recently got through TA with an offer - it seems like a similar format

consultant: STAR - they looked for client management, stakeholder management

technical: SFDC (an example would be the data modeling)+ general tech; (an example would be describing how does TCP/IP works)

panel was to present a past solution to as much depth or breadth as you want. the key here is time management and conveying the business value of the solution. panelist will interject questions so make sure you take into consideration of that in the time portion.

(I would counter SC1 - the interviewer process was pretty smooth for me and I like the depth of tech that they go into)

Consultant fit is situational Qs. What do you do when clients XY. For technical - Didn’t have an exp as slalom1 but they did try to catch me on some Qs. Even when I didn’t know, I said I’d get back to you. At the end I asked “do you really do X as you said?? Why?” Challenging him on sth he said. And interviewer basically said he was not serious. And then implied he just wanted to see how i responded to sth diff / off. So just act like yourself / as a consultant as you would.
Panel presentation I had to give a use case presentation and answer Qs. Was easy going for me for solcon role :) but I did have 3+ yrs exp

Thanks for your insight! How are you liking it at Salesforce? Any pros ? Any cons?

I was at Slalom prior to Salesforce. Both interview processes were positive for me. At Salesforce, I interview grades 6-8 for the technical group, so I can provide some context.

SC2 is right on the money with their description. The one change you will see from their experience is that generally grade 7 (TA) is where the “technical” interviews are no longer Salesforce specific. That is, TAs will be asked more enterprise architecture questions, while a senior consultant will be asked only Salesforce platform questions.

Are there grades below grade 5 or is that the most entry-level job at Salesforce?
