Good luck with retaining your US salary in Spain..if you succeed, you will live like a king 👑
In Spain? Lol gl - only market you can get close to the US is Switzerland. UK/DE maybe 30-40% less and ES/IT more like 60% less.
Thanks for all the info! And that’s amazing you got to live there 😊
Do it now before you’re too established in life. I regret not taking an opportunity to live in another country five years ago and now I make too much money/have too many bills and am too established to do it.
Do it know while your young when money isn't as important, it's totally worth it
Not Spain, but Colombia for 6 months in 2021. I could have just as easily went to Spain. I was on a tourist visa for 3 months, extended for 3 months. All very simple. I retained my U.S. salary. The real issue is it’s client specific. The client didn’t have a geo fence around their network. They also didn’t have a policy for consultants restricting it. I told my employer before I started I travel to Colombia. The real rub is when you onboard and they need to send you a client laptop you may need to fly home. Also most U.S. companies will want a U.S. address. International taxes are more complex. I maintained my U.S. address for taxes/residency. During the interview the interviewer was on his terrace in Brazil, visiting his wife’s family. It’s a tough situation to find but there are rare situations where no one cares. I’ve lost so many good roles asking for the ability to travel abroad since. We’d hire you if you drop that requirement. I did live like a king there and had fiber internet to my router in a small town. I had to come home when my visa expired 😢 Maybe some day I’ll retire there.
