I def want to leave my current org. Layoffs happened and my team is down to bare bones now. But with 2 kids in daycare, I can’t afford to risk anything but keeping my head down until this all hopefully blows over quickly. Def don’t want to enter the market with so many former FAANGs on the market too. Crying blood tears.
Idk…a lot of people use layoffs to get rid of current underperforming staff (I know good people also get cut with large client losses though). With a looming recession, I would imagine if anyone is hiring right now it is because the job is needed. Either that or their finance department is horrible.
I've been wanting to leave, but this also has me concerned. Plus, I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy which makes it all the harder to interview for many reasons.
I know it's often first in first out, though that's not at all how my current company has been doing layoffs. I'll probably keep searching a bit, but not get my hopes up too much.
I feel this in my bones. I want to leave my current job, and am actively interviewing. My current position is a high stress sh*tshow and I can’t imagine getting pregnant with my second kid here. But, the idea of tackling a whole new place during a looming recession and trying to get pregnant then is also terrifying. My OB told me not to wait past this year to start trying again (I’m 36) so I’m feeling a little 😵💫 over it.
Yes! My org had layoffs followed by new ownership and has solidified my desire to find a new agency. We just bought a house and are trying for baby number two and the layoffs have just made everything so much more stressful.
