Anybody know if Alix Partners still does their IQ tests during their interview process? Also I’ve heard that career moves across levels isn’t easy? Appreciate any insight folks might have about Alix

I'm pretty sure they still do the IQ test. It's not a big deal. I assume most quality people in consulting would do well. It just helps remove those bottom tier people that the Big4 hire just to meet their recruiting quotas.
As for moving across levels, AP has less levels than the Big4, so if you move "laterally", you'll still be getting more responsibility.
Where are you coming from? What group are you applying too?

likefunny

Just finished interviewing there. Sheesh. I interviewed with 5 partners who go DEEP to make sure you know your stuff, then IQ assessments, case study standing up delivering presentation, personality and behavioral interview and assessment!!! Jesus J. Christ! I think i might be getting offer today or tomorrow though. I'm not likely to take it anymore. I'm exhausted

like

That’s surprising - I’m working with a PM from there right now that is absolutely worthless. I’m talking no subject matter expertise, no technical skills... I assumed it was a firm where ex government employees went to make better money...

funny

@AP1 - Coming from big 4, apply for an IT Transformation position... Thanks for all the interesting feedback

like

OP, glad to be of help. I came from the Big4 too. I've never regretted the decision.

like

Yolo just take the test!

It wasn’t that bad. There is a behavioral and wonderlick type test. To be honest, if you have issues with those you probably shouldn’t be in consulting.

^wut. I have never heard anyone say anything like that about AlixPartners, SM1. What group was he in? I can only think of one useless guy who was fired after about 3 months in the job. You get eaten alive here if you're incompetent.

I'm sure there's bad eggs like everywhere else. Maybe he was hired as a personal favor, but it's much less common to have under qualified people here. I've never been more impressed with the people I work with.

Everyone takes the IQ test and the personality test. Not looking for Mensa only but weeds out the people they don't want representing the firm. I like that they do it. 90% of people at the firm are incredibly intelligent which makes working on teams with them much easier than if dealing with idiots. Of course a few bad ones still pass the tests. Nothing is perfect.

Lol OP. You only have one more level to go!
