No, absolutely love it.
As an ex-WK I can assure you it has many, if not all, the same problems as other major shops. They’re not above revenue-driven layoffs if that’s what you’re getting at. I will admit the creative was excellent though! It just came at a familiar cost

Maybe it’s the system that makes me hate it, not its core.
I’ll put it this way… I’ve become quite accustomed to eating and having roof over my head.
I’m tired of people just talking to themselves. Big idea obsession, but no real strategic thinking. Stunts. And so many f*ing opinions. I’ve lost all interest in it. None of it really matters. Just a bunch of privileged over-inflated snobs stroking their egos.
When’s the last time you saw any “award winning” work in the real world? And I mean the pharma stuff. Uh, never.
Absolutely. Pipe people? Talking stomachs, lungs, pancreas, etc? Powerful? These are all super bad ideas and peeps inside these companies think they’ve just created the Mona Lisa. Cheesy junk. Stupid puns that no one gets. It’s an embarrassment

It’s where we aspiring- artists, writers, filmmakers, photographers, comedians, actors, musicians, DJs, playwrights, etc. can be creative/entertaining for a steady paycheck, to pay off our student loans.
No it’s not, and if you got a degree for most of those jobs you wasted your money.

Very much. Left it for a brand/design boutique. Adjacent and sometimes still includes advertising work, but it I don’t hate it or myself.
Yes but it pays better than anything else I’m qualified to do so I’m stuck in this industry for now

🙋🏻♀️ but actually… been trying to get a job client side but that has been extremely difficult, especially given account titles tell them virtually nothing about my background (sorry recruiters, not in sales)… but honestly I’m not sure I truly expect the grass to be any greener. Every company and every industry have bs politics you’re forced to navigate. There will always be people you don’t get along with at every company.
All I want is a tolerable job, that pays well so I can maybe live comfortably without scraping by, and I find the handful of humans I genuinely enjoy spending time with day in and day out. Who knows, I may be forced to settle for staying in advertising 🙄 at least I’ll know what to expect?
You can go anywhere on the account side, and I’d highly recommend it!
As a job? No, it’s been a great career so far. Hitting me in the face everyday? Sure, but it’s always going to be there. My job suits my personality and is stressful times, but I wouldn’t trade it. It’s been an amazing ride thus far and sure beats being in an office all day.
It’s terrible but it pays my bills.
Are there parts about it that piss me off? Sure, on the daily. But in the grand scheme of things I get to go to work and be dumb and hang out with people I like every day. A good perspective is telling literally anyone with a normal job what it's like to do what we do. They balk every time. So long as they're paying me to write my stupid little jokes I'll be here lol
if you hate this, do something else. we're better at this job when we love it. you can't force this stuff.
