Fwiw I’ll change my name eventually but want it to be my decision, not theirs. The amount of pressure was just annoying. I know they mean well, but still lol
I am the same as you! I am a staunch feminist and also wanted to take his name. I think it’ll take another generation or two before we shake this assumption. I also think people get a kick out of ~*~Mr and Mrs so and so~*~
Yes we got multiple gifts that were monogrammed. We appreciated the thought and said thank you. But was kinda awkward when my husband explained I wasn’t changing my name lol. It didn’t bother me that much, but wish people wouldn’t just make assumptions!
I’ve heard it’s a huge issue that people write checks using the “new” last name, since banks won’t allow it. Many women take time to change their last name, even if they are planning to change it.
Is there any polite way to remind people of this? Or make it known that we aren’t changing our names? (Maybe as an FAQ on our wedding sites?)

FAQ could help. Also maybe ask the parents to tell their friends/relatives that checks should be written out to one person and use maiden names. We noticed checks were all from older guests- people our age bought off the registry
I won’t be changing my last name. I made an announcement during a dinner party. Most people made a face and had their opinions.. Now most of our friends don’t know… I’m thinking of sending a friendly group txt reminding everyone else that I will be keeping my last name.
I won't be changing my last name. Is there a way to avoid the check situation?

I didn’t change my last name and was written all check to my first his last, no issue of them going through
Yes. This happened to me as well. I didn't really mind as I did change my name, but I do think it is interesting how people just assume.
