Yes, you should leave Havas before it’s too late
I’m stupid, but not that stupid
No but i really wish i had.
You know right away if the place is not going to work out - listen to yourself and get out asap.
That’s a good point. Literally knew within the first two days.
Who cares about burning a bridge if you’re that done with the place after a matter of weeks? I had the same worry and stuck it out for 6 months. To this day when I see news of that agency’s leadership moving somewhere else I think, “welp, another place I don’t want to be."
I did. After 3 months. No regrets. Now I have a 1000000 x better job. And everyone at that awful job got fired within a year or two. So do it, stop suffering
I've done it.
Maybe burned a bridge with one or two people there, but with people I wouldn't want to work with again anyways. Hence why I left so soon.
It’s fine. Find some place you want to be and don’t bother putting the old place on your resume. If you’re feeling sentimental down the road, you can add it to the freelance section of your resume.
Yes. It can be done. I went from digital to direct mail (long story) at a big well known agency that had crazy turnover; and wanted to die 3 weeks in, left 8 weeks in - as soon as I found another job. It’s not even on my resume. Second worst professional decision I’ve made.
Chasing money.
Yes I have. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. I was so nervous but it’s the name of the game. I don’t think it was a surprise though because I had voiced some concerns while I was there (2 months). Good luck with the next gig!
Glad you’re happier now, and thanks for the advice — I appreciate it. :)
I always think it’s okay to leave in first 3 months. That’s when you know right or wrong fit. Wait longer and it’s harder to explain.
I got into a very awkward conversation with the CEO (small company) like week 2 of a job. It was more like an inappropriate argument and I felt mortified and crushed that I’d left my job for this douche. I asked him to talk to me outside and said I was not comfortable with what happened and went home. The next morning he greeted me, fired me, gave me a 10,000 severance and said good luck. Sometimes it’s not a match. That’s ok. You live and learn and sometimes get paid to fucking leave, which is what you want anyways
Did he make a move on you? That’s a lot of severance for something short of harassment
I have an alternate version of this question... what if you take a job knowing that you’re deep into the interview process somewhere you’d rather be?
I can’t shake the ethical dilemma
