I’m really good at the work I do, but really bad at selling myself and always look like I do less than those who talk better even when I put in more hours. It sucks
I am a BCA graduate with 5 years of experience.

How do you afford to live in this area as a single person? If I want a nice 1 bedroom in a good area Id be spending like half my paycheck a month towards rent… why are we NYC prices anymore 😭
I'm an engineer, and I feel like my manager is more of a friend than anything else. We talk about our personal lives, and I feel like it's hard to be completely honest with her when she's so casual with me. I don't want to lose our friendship, but I also need to be able to talk honestly with someone who has the power to help me grow professionally. Is there a way to have both?

Anybody in here at CYOC Conference in Orlando? 👀
Just finished an interview for an AE role at a high-growth SaaS organization.
The interviewer told me that their quotas are very high - barely any of their sales reps hit quota YoY. They mentioned, “goals are high to push our reps. hence our YoY growth”
Is this a red flag?
Anyone work in the OD space in Houston? I’m trying to pivot into OD but having a difficult time and could use guidance. Much appreciated!

I have an offer from Deloitte USI & TCS. Deloitte USI offered more than TCS. The offered designation at Deloitte is SCon. I have 8 years of experience.
I am worried about job security at Deloitte USI over TCS. I am looking for long term stay.
Your responses would really be helpful to take further decisions.
How do you turn off perfectionism? I always get stuck at the end of a project because it’s never “perfect.” Getting over that final hump from “must be perfect” to “good enough” for government work is tough. Looking for strategies to help me get things finished and move on.
Hi all, I’m looking to move in a mid size audit firm (RSM, GT other..). I am promoted to S2 in Big4. How are the hours in audit financial services ? Is it slightly better ? I’m utilized > 100% all year, averaging 60hr.

Why are plaintiffs or defense / plaintiffs firms so much smaller than pure corporate defense?
junior attorney here. I have been leading this case with minor supervision. We’re getting to the point in the case where I no longer feel capable of leading. How do I tell my boss?!
(Salary raise - EU/Brussels) : Does anyone have or know where to find updates on salary increases/ranges in the EU and more specifically Brussels? Many thanks!
I hate my job. I work dozens of child sex assault cases and my team is understaffed. Turnover is insane, haven't been able to go more than two months without another attorney or paralegal resigning. Management doesn't care and just keeps foisting the work on the new people till they burn out too. I'm only here because I need the paternity leave when my newlywed wife and I have our first kid. If it weren't for that I would be searching for a new job right now. Just wanted to rant, sorry.
Has anyone started a staffing agency for a client? PC looking to open the agency potentially in CA, curious as to whether CA has more requirements for the agency versus other states? The agency will staff nurses nationwide.
PC is contemplating starting the business in CA or OH.
I'm curious to see what attorneys here prefer, working at a plaintiffs' firm or defense? Pros and cons? Difference in compensation?
Just a rant on how absolutely stupid the bar is. The fact that I’ve been a well-regarded attorney for many years now but just because I moved states, I need to provide references for every random volunteer position I had going back to college, plus need 8 personal references who can’t overlap with employment references, all just to be authorized to keep practicing law at the exact same law firm I’ve been at for years, is absolutely insane. Not to mention the fees are over a thousand dollars.
Happy Thursday everyone! I know that as a profession and especially during this unprecedented time we constantly experience and are bombarded with negativity. Including the negativity in our lives away from work, which we see every time we get on social media platforms, or watch the news etc... therefore I thought we could put some positivity out there today and share some positive experiences that have been a result of this wfh/quarantine/pandemic.
My first lead that came organically from my brand new firm site was for a huge amount of work my guess is 350 hours. It seemed like client was price shopping, I wanted the work so I low balled them and offered to do the work for $75 an hour. I think the fair rate would have been 100-150. I think I overshot it because right after I gave the quote I was ghosted.
Is anyone experiencing a reduction of billables due to the partners assigning you less and doing more of the work themselves? If so, what year are you?
Can any plaintiff side securities litigation associates speak to typical base and total comp? I understand it can vary quite a bit by year but would appreciate a general range.
Anyone in this bowl did the CAMS exam? If so, is this an exam that can be passed without AML experience?
Legal discovery question for California: can we serve a plaintiff in a related case by depo notice or do we have to subpoena? We are defense counsel for case A. Case A and B were deemed related by the court. Cases have not been consolidated yet. There are 5 related cases. The Court ruled that depositions are to be global—meaning all counsel from the other cases can ask questions to the deponent. We want to depose Plaintiff in case B.
“Take a vacation it’ll help calm you down.” All it did was make me re-evaluate everything I’m doing. Which is nice but not very calming.
So I got 2 offers, 1 at a well-known firm (that I previously worked at, not as an atty) that offered 80K plus full benefits (100% health coverage, PTO, sick days, discretionary bonus & 1800 billable req.) Their a little old school in their methods but I do see the younger gen. coming in to make changes. 2nd offer is at a newer firm however i’ve heard great things, and they offered 80k, unl. PTO, 1500 billable hours, bonus incentives qrtrly, & 50% health ins. WHY can’t I make a decision? HELP
