Go for it as long you are not the one paying them
Avoid the kind you pay. I had one approach me and tell me their fee is "only" 10% of my base salary.
It is an old school model used before LinkedIn, Indeed, etc., when these organizations had memberships to databases of jobs and people hiring.
OP the business model of these firms is to collect fees from employers, not candidates.
Their value add to employers is to go out and find the right people for the job, typically by crawling through LinkedIn, including those who may not have indicated they are looking.
Being on their radar may help, but you cannot hire them to help you find a job.
Their client is the hiring company, not you.
They won’t be going out to find new opportunities just for you.
