If you want to have a career in PE PortCo, then this is as good as it gets.

PE PortCo is also broad. Are you thinking at a LBO or GE PortCo as an example. LBO means work in cost cutting, with some growth. GE means growth but that’s also not guaranteed. Each has its own pressure. That said, profit interest at PortCos can get interesting if you are senior enough (CXO level)
I am on the exec team at a PE portco and it is fantastic. The investors are there to move the needle to create value, get a higher multiple and sell. So you are developing plans and putting them into action and then measuring results.
This is done quickly. You'd be surprised how quickly a few years can go by.
It can be hard to break in to PE portco land at a high enough level to get options, so an opportunity like this is great. CXO visibility and probably investor / board visibility. Crush this role and the aforementioned will bring you along to the next portco into a bigger role and larger share of the equity.
Thank you!
PEs usually just appoint C-Suite execs at their PortCos and those execs are in charge of building their team.
Were the CEO and CFO appointed by the PE? If you make a good impression they might want to bring you in to other PortCos once the PE exists the investment.
