We are a small firm (2 partners now, likely another soon) and are being encouraged to adopt a subjective comp system by a former big law MP. We currently allocate revenue between the originating and working lawyer, but that requires allocation of each receipt and is quickly becoming too cumbersome. I don’t think think subjective comp allocation works in a small firm. How do other small firms allocate comp between partners?

Currently working in M&A FDD at Deloitte but have been offered a similar FDD role at PwC with a bump in comp. Thoughts on differences between the practices at the two firms and factors to consider between the two roles?

Patent Bar Salary Bump/Bonus: I have heard of a very wide range of salary bumps/bonuses for passing the patent bar (e.g., one time 5k bonus, $25k salary increase, etc.).
