How do you deal with losing close relative/family? I wake up every day praying I never get a phone call like this. I finally did today, I am not crying but I’m confused, sad, broken, don’t know what to say to others. Don’t even think I can focus the rest of today. It’s so painful that we have to deal with this in life. Apologies if this is not the typical fun post, just feeling helpless. I can’t talk to family too, they feel the same.

Partners and MDs - a partner is trying to recruit me into a new practice they are building out. They have senior leadership support but still facing uphill political battle. Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

Folks - when you calculate the total diluted share counts, does the result have to tie to the reported diluted share counts on the most recent filing (either 10K or 10Q)?

Interesting all the noise about these PPT, my take:

The pandemic took all the upside of an IB analyst life (client meetings in person, fancy trips, suit up, worshiped at networking events) and left all the juniors with the downside (long hours, monkey-like type of job, aggressive work environment).

Not that the complaints are not sort of legitimate but you may need to revise the decision-making process that led you to accept a return offer. Specially if you were looking for less hours.
