Heh yeah we had a guy leave to do that. It sounded like he would be the taxi dispatch.
Be careful with applying for this role. They interviewed tons of people in Chicago, in consulting roles. During the interview, they make you give some ideas to improve the business and make you give a presentation. In the end, they didn't even hire anyone and just took the ideas from all of the interviewees.
(It is a joke, he probably doesn't actually dispatch ubers, big tech project implementation instead)
Nope. Uber is like Yahoo. They will be killed off and loose market share slowly but surely. As an early uber customer I only used them because they were the only option. In NY, every good uber driver has a Juno terminal. They are cheaper, faster and more reliable. It's not a PR problem it's a an evil management problem.
Did some contract work at Uber. Office was still full at 7pm. Fast pace / lots of work.
Uber is still a market and industry leader. I think it's a great opportunity for a fast growing company. The only downside is like was D1 said. Uber is starting to realize that their idea can be easily copied 😱. Uber recently sold all of its China operations and pulled out of the market. Bad sign. Too much competition from local services and foreign government pushback. The EU is also releasing its version of Uber for all of Europe. Uber deff has an uphill battle esp considering its valuation.
Ubers public image has been hit but it's still far away from losing its dominant position in the market. Juno brands itself as the anti uber but it will soon realize that a part of the reason of why uber is so good is the efficient business model (with def room for improvement with driver relations). Juno's driver friendly policies are admirable, but the company will generate less revenue (taking less than half of the commission uber makes) and suffer from much higher costs. Uber has shown to be adaptive and innovative and I'm confident it will be able to address its PR issue with a simple solution

Guy on my team applied. Following..
Uber is gonna get killed by Juno. In NY they are in beta mode and I only use them now and they are spreading. Look at how the CEO treats drivers and the competition. Do you really want to go there?
They may be a leader because of being first to market and market share. It's now gonna be a race to the bottom in pricing. They don't realize they can be copied. They hired PIs to harass people who sued them or otherwise pissed off the CEO. CEO needs to resign in order for them to maintain leadership or grow. I would avoid at all costs until change of leadership.
D2 to my point.
@D2: really?? What's the sample size for this?
@D1, yes I agree that management has made mistakes. Calling them Yahoo is a little rash though. I wonder if Juno will be able to grow its rider base even after the promotions end? What's the draw for the riders over uber?
