I just offered an intern a full time position as an account coordinator with a starting salary of $50k. They have only been an intern for 2 months and have no prior experience. They acted like $50k was a huge slap in the face. Am I crazy for thinking $50k is reasonable for entry level in Toronto? I am not authorized to negotiate so they will have to take it up with HR, but I am still just shocked at the reaction. Please tell me if I’m totally out of touch!

I asked for a raise in April 2022 after three years with my company. Positive feedback since day one. Learned I was making less than peers at other asset managers in NYC with less experience (14 years). Latest conversation was with HR about how they calculate salaries. Made it to the last round of an interview with one of the intelligence agencies. Just got a letter in the mail yesterday saying they will not be moving forward with me.

Here is my idea for a startup! I collect all the data from career transitions and use Data Analytics to predict the most likely career transitions. I could start with consulting. What do you guys think about this? I would be able to predict based on your firm(mbb, big4), your experience, which role you are likely to move (Faang pm, strategy manager, move to mbb). I have all the data to do this, but wanted your thoughts. Would the output of this be relevant to you?

Is leaving consulting as a senior, with 2 YOE, too soon? When is a “good” time to exit, in your opinion? I ask because I’ve heard senior is good, and I’ve heard manager is the latest you should stay before diminishing exit returns (anecdotal)
