Anyone listen to music while working? What music keeps you productive?

I have the worst time concentrating if I don't have music going. Usually I put on chill acoustic covers of popular songs (Spotify has a lot of great cafe playlists). I know the songs so I'm not focusing on the lyrics, and the beats or pace aren't distracting.

Honestly I’m the complete opposite. I have to have like complete quiet otherwise I can focus and get distracted.

I've tried listening to music while working, as I've got coworkers who swear by it. But it's just too distracting for me. If I'm doing work around the house, or taking a walk, I love listening to music, I feel like it keeps my energy up. But while I'm working and having to concentrate I'm just not wired for it. It's interesting how some people are really into it and others just can't do it.

I've always worked best in environments where there is background noise (I've heard this is an indication of ADHD lol). But that's partly why remote work was so hard for me. I need the energy of people around and/or just background noise. If I have to work from home I always have the music or the TV on

Two steps from hell or two cellos

I love listening to music at work, especially in the mornings before it gets busy. Indie rock is my favorite genre of music.

I used to but not anymore

All types. It changes from classical, coffee house, country, today's hits, hard rock...it really depends on the project and how focused I need to be at that time.

What is the in-house interview timeline these days?

Beginning to consider going in house (4th, corp) - I really haven’t thought about what I want, partly because I’m not sure what’s out there/attainable. Is it a bad idea to start by applying to a couple positions that interest me and seeing where that gets me? I’ll of course prep for the interviews but am afraid to burn potential bridges if I ultimately decline because I’m still figuring things out.

Additional Posts in Engineering

I currently working as project coordinator (on-site) for 3 months 10hrs everyday with package $75k, I want to move to remote or hybrid work but I only have 8 months of experience from my previous employer and I have completed my master's in construction management in 2021. Should I stay in my role a bit longer to gain experience or I am not able to find remote or hybrid matching my profile. Your advice and comments are much appreciated.

How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? I’m the only mechanical engineer at my company dealing with a half dozen cranky production managers who think that I can “work my magic” on a machine.
