Pivoting now to law, might regret it but dunno yet
I'm in accounting now with my EA and going for my CPA soon. I'm thinking of going into law too. Tax law to be specific. I just want my CPA before I think about law. Good luck!

Just leave public accounting. That will solve 99% of your problems. Left last year and it's been WONDERFUL
Can’t u at least get same pay for fewer hours outside of PA? Or do u have to take a cut
I left public accounting for contract opportunities that pay me by the hour it has been amazing!
I’ve now snapped out of the public accounting spell and I’m going back to get a masters in physics
I think once you get out of accounting you can see clearly again
Just go bro
Im considering leaving accounting altogether as well. For me, I specialized in tax, have my cpa and now a manager. It bothers me that my skills are so niche and how difficult it is to pivot into something else. At this point in my life, I need a more generalized career and a work life balance. My husband is a data analyst and works 40 hours a week and make a great salary and I love how his skill set is applicable across multiple industries and companies. I wish I switched when I was younger but it is what it is.
I think I’m just completely turned off by the accounting field in general especially when I observe others that went to school for good degrees, work less, make similar pay and have a good wlb.
And yes nursing may be less pay but I have nurse friends and with more education, they’ve moved up and gotten more money. They can do the 12 hours 3 times a week thing, work in a clinic 5 days a week and so on. They have a range and a flexibility that a lot of CPAs simply do not have. Yes they might work 13/3s but once they clock out then they clock out.
The once you clock out you clock out is also a huge factor for me. I feel like I carry the weight of unfinished tasks every night and every weekend and it eats away at me. I don’t think I can get away from that even if I left public accounting.
That was my plan: CNA, LPN then RN,
I got my CNA license; was working every other weekends.
But, I realized healthcare career isn’t for me. I’m too sensitive. Too protect my mental health, I stop this path and choose to go for my CPA instead #crazystory😂
I bought a company related to construction and hospitality, grew it from $1 to $7 million in sales, sold it and went back to corporate accounting then consulting. Great training for running a business, probably should have some other skills too.
Mine was revirce I left the medical field to accounting, I kept my RN license up to date. Until 2023. Wish I would of kept it up to date. Personally just incase I would. Unless you don't see yourself going back.
Animal science to accounting. I don't regret it
