1000 people all running at a single door at full speed. As they close in on their target someone notices that it’s actually only a painting on a brick wall. Another yells “faster or we won’t make it!!” The mob accelerates. They slam into the wall, bodies crunch into one another, screams of pain erupt in unison. A single man walks up to the mess and climbs up on the pile only to find that he’s still just shy of being able to see over. He looks down and says “we’re still not tall enough!! Everyone back to the start... and this time run faster!!!”. They proceed with similar results a few times when finally someone on the bottom yells “let’s just get a ladder!!!”... another yells “what if we try to go even faster... maybe we’ll break through!!” ... minutes later the group can be seen running with a ladder ... someone yells “ramming speed team!! This will do it!!”.
What? That’s how pursuits are supposed to work right?

The BFS consulting group is good at Cognizant. Has strong leadership and sources big4 talent. It’s mostly tech strategy and PMO type work. Not much implementation work done by that team.
Just need to keep in mind Cog is largely an IT services firm and the consulting arm is a relatively small part of their business.
I think a lot of the poo pooing on fishbowl is trying to compare Cog as a company to the big 4 which it is not...

Don’t leave EY. This is an Indian firm with a very poor reputation.
M2. This is the most ignorant statement I have seen in a while
Yep
I worked at Cognizant Consulting for 3 years, got duped into leaving KPMG. It will be two rounds and then you will meet the VP or Partner.
BUT please don’t do it! You will hate it. Don’t do it. You promise?
Helpful context, if mine goes the same way..
Although One hour of WHY??! Sounds awful

You need to be extremely desperate to be thinking of going to cognizant

I disagree... I’ve been in the BFS group for a little over a year.
Not sure if I’ll stay here long term, but working with good people, good $, gaining good experience and getting some lucrative exit opportunities to industry and other boutique firms.
Chatted with them for a bit, but bowed out. You’d need a pretty solid reason to even entertain a conversation.
At Cognizant?

Do the interview; also keep looking at other opportunities. Look at firms such as Guidehouse and Oliver Wyman.
So anyone have info on interview process? Rounds , types of questions, hierarchy?
Going thru as a referral, and recruiter hasn't left me a number or email to reach her! And the person I am interviewing with is from a group outside of the banking practice I am supposed to go, which is strange. I'll find out more when I talk to him I guess
If you have nothing else then I guess you can go for it but I'm at CTS right now and hating every minute of my day and can't relax even on weekends. Are you going to BFS?
Oh, good for you. That group is well managed. Totally different feel than the rest of the company.
Hey, I’ve worked with them as well. I’ve never ever had a client that had so much internal strife. If you currently have a job, I wouldn’t take it.
Leadership wise they have some strong people. Architects are blah and that’s where the frustration is.
I guess one good thing is if you’re really good it will be really easy to standout. Just know that every day may be really stressful.
They’re a pretty big company though so other BUs may be better than the ones I worked with.
Good luck man.
Wait if tech is your thing, why not Accenture?
Yeah... there’s lots of layoffs at the firm. Tricky times to join in my opinion.
Following. Currently working with them on my project
Mind sharing what kind of project and ppl from cts ?
I am hearing a ton of cons.. Any positive experience at all? I was laid off and this is the first solid interview I have lined up 😶
I work with Cognizant consulting. To put things in perspective, the interview process itself won’t be as intense as other big 4. It will primarily focus on your experience thus far and how you fit in the org. The terrible experiences people are talking about are indeed true but that applies to broader technology practices. There has been a huge emphasis on engagements being advisory led and the consulting groups have been focusing on getting the right people and they will lap up people from big 4. Coming to the actual work itself, you will have to work with a broad range of groups where the quality of associates will be poor many times. There may be pockets of good people here and there but you can expect a poor experience. But it’s an opportunity to lead and help elevate Cognizant’s brand. Not easy by any measure but that’s what the focus of the role will be. Leadership in consulting is actually pretty good but you will seldom work directly with them. But if you are good, you will be pulled in to work where you have to orchestrate the many groups/ technology practices to deliver a good experience for the client and win more business. This has been my experience so far. I say, no harm in working for Cognizant but don’t plan to stay more than 3-4 years.
