I wrapped up a full time evening MBA program in 3 years. Lots of long nights!!
I did an EMBA in 2 years time on nights and most weekends while at my old firm (boutique industry shop). It was masterclass on time management but its doable- especially if you have a supportive team/lead who can cover for you when finals/projects come up
I did not, but I was the beneficiary of experience of folks like you.
I remain beyond grateful for my classmates at E/W Booth who were concurrently in consulting as I sought to transition to consulting post-MBA (I went through formal recruiting process). Their approach to classwork made me a better student & prospective consultant.
I do whatever I can now to help those individuals and will continue to do so at any opportunity.
How demanding is your consulting job? If you’re MBB forget about it.
Doable - Comes down to what you are willing to put into it and your reasoning. I knew a lot of people that did it with me but only because they wanted the degree. In that regard it’s much simpler but you don’t get much out of the program. If it’s free or low cost then yes highly doable
which program did you do?
Yes, I did the Wharton executive program. No regrets but if I was at 6 YOE I would have gone full-time. It would have been a lot more enjoyable vs. suffering. Consulting is hard! Business school is mostly easy and fun but the assignments still need to be done and exams still need to be passed.
I did USC EMBA while I was Director at PwC. Very manageable workload if you are willing to trade weekends and evenings for the degree. That said, consider what EMBA is and is not. Great for building a network and getting a well rounded knowledge, not so great for transitions.
I did a PT MBA while working FT. It was definitely a grind but I enjoyed the experience.
I did an evening MBA while working full time. Big thing was to tell the team. People supported me and made sure that I had protected time following my class schedule. Long nights but it paid off
From the comments here, you probably need to clarify whether you mean an executive mba or an evening mba.
The reason that it’s really confusing is that any reputable executive mba program would not be considering a person with 6 YOE as an executive. The common shorthand for evening MBA is E/W MBA or PTMBA.
Yeah I meant Executive MBA. Also stated that I won’t be doing it anytime soon but in the next 3-5 years.
