Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. Looking at full-time and application asks for expected salary and then expected total compensation as a number. How should I figure out the second? Health insurance, bonuses, life insurance, equity, PTO? I studied art, not math.

Why do companies do this? I interviewed with a company. They loved my work and told me that I’m going to start the following week. They made me sign all of the onboarding papers and poof ghosted me! 🤦‍♀️ I feel so down right now! And I feel like I won’t be able to ever land a job!
