Yes, we are the first ones chosen to test because we don’t have a set teaching schedule. No sub needs to be hired. Yet we’re expected to carry on with all of our normal counselor roles. It doesn’t line up with the mental health needs that are being expressed and need more attention more than ever. Since test results are a very high priority for most schools, it seems to rank above everything else in importance. I’m open to suggestions on how to handle this issue also. I need to have a heart to heart with my principal about the services we can’t provide if we’re testing all the time.
Social worker here, but yes! Sometimes I get sent to other schools within the district to test. My regular job responsibilities don't stop while I'm testing. It's infuriating!
