What will be in hand salary? 10.5 lpa
Hello Techies, I am depressing day by day as I recently joined the an organization 5 days ago, but not feeling good here due to the environment. And here I can see my growth and learning for future opportunities. I want to leave this organization, need genuine suggestion. Is it possible to left an organization after 8 days of joining. Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies.Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python.It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

Weird world problem..how come even after getting 40 lacs you are still feeling depressed..if you keep comparing with few individuals only then there is no end to greed.. any offer where your CTC is 2 times of your workex years is above industry average..
Exactly, the issue is relocation. I was in the same situation so i can easily relate. Compare the cost of living in your current city and offered city, possibilities of family shifting and then decide. Also try negotiating with the current company if they can retain you with a better package. Also think about the kind of opportunities you and your family members will get if you shift to a new city. And don't loose hope, best offers usually come in the last days of np as you become an immediate joiner for which the whole industry is craving😊
With 14 yoe I won't really be looking at ctc because I have a big transformation that's going to hit in soon.. whether I would remain completely technical or move into management and so the company which I choose will have to be a stable company that doesn't do frequent restructuring, has potential to upgrade itself to new techs and remain competitive in the industry, and if possible I would learn about the team/product and its revenue projection and its importance in the companies product lineup or offerings, etc.. and then decide.
All that said forget about ctc if work location is a problem I would say join prove that you are independent and you can talk to management in 6 months or something citing family situations they will definitely work out a plan.
Again on ctc its a decent one its neither too low nor too high as I know the industry. As in when a headwind comes they won't look at you as a liability.

40 Lacs P.A is really a too low package, m wondering how you will be managing your chai & sutaa expenses.
But don't get depressed, try some methods like skipping one meal, so you can manage your budget wrt your extremely low package of 40L.
And last but not least, keep doing good work, sooner or later definately you will be able to find a job with a good package.
Really felling sad for you and wondering how you will be managing your daily expenses with such low payout.

Very common Indian tactic - to believe you are in a crisis and not doing so good so as to keep motivating yourself. I'm also depressed earning only 80 lpa **wipes tears with money**

You are not getting much calls as your cctc is already high... I also faced the same situation 2 months back.
Both your current salary and new package is too low. So companies might consider you as under performer and not giving any calls.

My current salary is 7.4 LPA, half of my total work experience of 14 years in different domains. My current profile is Business Analyst in which I have a total 3+ years of relevant experience and I am serving notice period. I was pretty sure that the organization will do a market revision of my salary in my next appraisal, but they didn't. I keep on upgrading my skills. I am sad but of course not depressed. What I am trying to say is getting an offer of 40 over the current salary of 27 is too good. You are lucky. Financially you are in a very good position when compared to people like me with these many YOE. You should accept the offer, but yes it's your decision.

You don't have CTC or location problem, you have a mindset problem. Instead of changing location or company please change your mindset
Depression ? Seriously ? You are getting 27 LPA and holding offer of 40 LPA. You are earning very well and you have enough experience to decide and take decision.
Doesn't matter new city and all, you vsn experience living in a new place. Didn't get what is bothering you

Going by these posts, looks like people are expecting CPA (crores per annum) and not LPA packages.
Also, how on earth taking back resignation to stay at 27L CTC sounds good idea, but the 40L CTC is a bad package? I mean, how much do you think will the cost of living gets increased that a ~50% hike cannot justify it?

@Pw1 yes but I don't think now it's possible with the crazy inflated rents maybe if I try hard can reduce 5 or 6k in a builder's floor compromising on lot.
I'm not sure if you'll have to get depressed about this. Yes, for your experience the current pay will look a lot less, since people with less experience have started earning a lot more. But the new offer which you have is a much better one and yes it's WFO, but you can try negotiating for a hybrid based one and a different city, but if the hikes are good what's stopping you from moving to a different city. In my opinion this is not much of a depressing situation 😅, but more of something you feel bad since you are comparing yourself and thinking your pay is low.
Thank you for the response! Depression is not about salary part dear. I looked out for change because of no projects from past 6 months due to org changes and no learning in my current role.

Market is down, and it will go down further. Take decision wisely. With 14 YOE, i believe you have family to run, don’t take any hasty decision, brush up your skills, money will come eventually.
Boss....your package is too low 40LPA at 14 YOE with Data Scientist role....this is really peanuts. People are earning in crores these days and you are still struck in lakhs, it is really a very serious issue.
Please consult nearby psychiatrist asap.
3-5 lakh ctc ppl are confused whether to cry or laugh 😂 after looking at 40 lakh ctc n ppl are getting depressed.
Mine is not even 10 lpa with exp of 6 years... Imagine the level of depression I am into 🥲

How long is the actual exp in data scientist role? If its around 7 to 8 years then 40 lacs is decent. It also depends on the skill you are bringing to the table and how niche it is, if the company is in urgency of getting someone, who is the client and if they are ready to pay someone a premium to come and hit the ground running. 4x and 5x is fine for 4 to 8 yrs exp. since their packages are already low. Anyone above that enters the management side of things where package progression does not come until you prove yourself for the next level. And dont take all 4x and 5x guys seriously. Industry is heading towards recession very soon and likely to stay there till next year end. Apple has laid off employees while Google is going to do it. Count your blessings mate. Upskill meanwhile. And stay happy, everyone who is reading this. Life is far bigger than mindless money rat race. You realise this only after a point.
