Anyone at MBB looking to make a referral?
Bain & Company I’m from Italy and will start my master’s degree at Oxbridge this fall. I got my undergrad from a target uni in continental Europe. I want to start my career in consulting, possibly MBB, in London. I know consulting firms tend to hire locally but I’d really like to work in London and that’s also one of the main reasons why I went for the Oxbridge degree. Anyone, who might have some tips, or went through a similar experience? McKinsey & Company Boston Consulting Group Bain & Company

I haven’t worked more than forty hours per week in a year. Found a team where my expertise makes me a top performer with low effort.
Some of google’s internal tools (both on the engineering side and sales side) are old.
Recent exit - former M EM. The expectations are around ~40hrs but you can def put in more if you want to it well. The problems at big tech are not easy and there are degrees of how well you solve a problem (i.e. do you only solve the technical part of the problem or do you bring the best solution, do you bring your team and stakeholders along the PS process so they truly buy in and trust you). And yes lifestyle depends on your team.
I’m at G (non-tech), 45-50hr tops.

It depends on level and area in MBB. Deloitte, Accenture and EY/Parthenon offered me more salary than McKinsey did but also brought me in at a more senior level.
My salary is much lower at Amazon but my total comp with RSU’s is about 10% higher over the 4 years. My stock this year makes up nearly half of my expected comp.

Everything sounds so good. Where’s the catch?
If you are not crazy about promotion that’s not bad :)

Usually, yes. Amazon has a reputation of having the worst hours of Big Tech, but I've heard that's dependent on your team and role.
Anecdotally, of the ~15 people I know who are either currently in Big Tech or were recently in Big Tech (with the exception of Amazon), they've all had an average workweek of <50 hours or so.
Which roles at Amazon did they have?
Yes, for sure.

What’s better - Facebook product operations or google apmm S&O
Deciding between 2 offers, same TC
Yes, significantly
Now: 30-40 hrs, but less money in the long run, harder to move up, I’d say salary/hr is higher though
Before: 50-60 hrs, more earning potential, clear defined career path
35-40 hours. It’s not even a contest.
If you want to promo you can. I know someone that’s promo’d every 18 months 2-3 times in a row
Echoing Adobe.
The person who promo’d quickly did the following:
- Focused heavily on value-add projects
- Made sure they were projects that leadership valued
- Delivered in time, executed at a top level
- Communicated consistently with leadership, serving as a thought partner on said projects
- Worked across teams, removed major blockers
- Was able to delve into technical tasks and work with business oriented partners
- Occasionally put in extra hours, balanced with reduced hours (average work week about 40-45, spiking to 60 near launch of a project)
- Changed teams to keep career momentum. When they hit a ceiling at a team, they found better opportunities elsewhere and immediately made the move.
- Similarly, they made sure they had a manager that was supportive of career progression and would champion them in a promo committee.

Completely different
What’s a good role to exit from MBB (PL/EM/M-level) to G and the As?
Yep, much better
Are Salesforce hours similar to FAANG?
I don’t think so
