Not where I'm at. It's a use it or lose it kind of situation. Frankly I'm okay with that because I need the time off and can't imagine a year in which I would prefer to not take any time off and just cash out the PTO, but I could see how someone in a dire financial circumstance might need that option.

Same ! They should allow to cash out !
Not presently, no. I've heard of people having the arrangement where you can essentially sell it back to the company. I wouldn't really be interested, but I also just question the wisdom of that. The idea is for people to relax and do something restorative, so cashing it in goes against the spirit of taking time off.

That is true ! We all need time away!
Where I work we can roll up to 200hours to the next year. Anything more is lost. You can cash out once a year but I hate to. They take 10% off the top for taxes and then tax the rest at the usual rate. Never had an employer do that before.

200 is awesome I can only roll over 40!!!
No they don't, unless you're walking out the door and not coming back. It's probably a good policy. Otherwise employees already on the verge of burnout would cash out and then burn out. This policy pretty much forces you to take time off, even if you believe the place will go to hell in a handbasket if you're not there. Strange thing is, every time I go on vacation it's still here when i get back.

That is the same where I am too!
Some companies will allow you to sell back at 100%, others will only allow to sell back at 50%.

Sadly no. I know there are a few companies who allow that but every single one I have worked at did not allow you to do that. It would be nice if they did considering that you have to earn it but sadly you just end up losing it. Thats why its better to use it all before you quit haha.
Yes 2 vacation hours for one paid hour hardly worth it
