Say you’re an Assurance Senior 3 and want to transfer soon as you hit Manager back to your hometown office. Should you secure the manager promotion at your current office first or go ahead and initiate the transfer at S3? I’m scared that they won’t accept me over their current S3s and so I think the safer bet is to make manager first then transfer. Deloitte EY PwC
Also, how desperate are firms for Managers these days? I know seniors and staff are in demand but I rarely hear about Managers.

You could I guess for fun but it would be on your own money. They aren’t just sending people to a different offices for networking without having a specific event which that happens pretty infrequently.
I would try to join some firm initiatives. That way, you are exposed to leaders and people you normally wouldn’t be in your daily work. This will build your network much more than randomly showing up at another office.
Yes, you might even be able to step up and take a leadership position in the firm initiative. The network you build will help you get on projects as well.
