What did the first 10 years of your career look like? How many jumps did you make? Where did you work? Audit or tax? PA, government, industry? Pay increases? City-size/CoL? Would love to get enough responses to see any trends related to how long you stayed at your first firm.

Not 10yrs but about 4yrs into my career, tax. Still at my first firm. I did transfer offices which was an easy process. Moved from LCOL to HCOL, got a COL adj and salary was a bit higher. Not as high as I thought it would be. Have thought about leaving due to coworkers turnover/being alone but no final straw have been drawn yet.

At 5 years now - tax manager. Started at EY and still here for now.

I was promoted 7 times and my salary tripled. Grind it out and make yourself as valuable as possible

3 years in left PA (assurance) for internal audit, 1 year later went back to PA (assurance) but at a different Big4, 4 year after took an internal role and loving it

Overtime is still expected but I find the work way more interesting.

EY lifer - started audit and switched to TAS after two years. Salary 9 years in is 3.6x my audit starting base

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

I recently interviewed for a role at Goldman Sachs and completed all the levels. After the final interview HR sent me a link to fill out the Compensation Questionnaire and requested for related documents. Next day, another HR called me for some clarification and told me that they are going to request for some approvals. Does this mean I can expect an offer letter? If yes, how long will that process take?

3 Things to keep in mind which changing jobs:
1. Always ask dedicated budget for the job before you tell your expectations.

2. Always have atleast 2 weeks of gap before you join any company. You might not understand significance of that but just have a gap.

3. Always talk to people of team you will be joining before you accept offer or atleast before you join company.
