Not this year, but there have been years when I've felt very alone. Volunteering is a great way to feel good about yourself, meet some great people and bring a little cheer all around. There are so many charities that need help right now or just look up the volunteer section in the websites of local churches.
Thanks for sharing!
The holidays can be rough if you have lost a loved one due to death or divorce or break up. Winter is a pretty depressing time at its best, and memories of happier times are inevitably compared to TV dinners, watching old reruns, and hearing about others' plans to spend the holidays with family or go on a trip with their kids. If you are alone, you cannot feel less alone. It is what it is. Regardless of how or why you find yourself in this condition, you cannot let it control you. Take pride and comfort in what makes you you, whether it is your work or your community service or your church activities, or a hobby you enjoy. If you have a friend or co-worker who is also minus a plus one, arrange a time when you can get together to get coffee or a bite to eat. Also, memories don't have to be saddening. They can also brighten your mood. Perhaps a personal goal to set for this year is to find someone to share the 2024 holidays with. Whether you're 26, 66, or 86, people are a social animal and we need companionship.
Thank you so much for this encouragement. It’s really helpful. I appreciate you for your thoughtfulness.
Reaching out to friends and family even if it's just a quick coffee break or a virtual chat. Their laughter and shared stories are like holiday magic in a mug. Everyone's so busy nowadays.
Instead of waiting for things to do, I've been planning things myself and saying YES to invites. it's been surprisingly uplifting this holiday season.
Well I have a family so technically I am not lonely. However even with that I do a lot of self care because I work hard at work and work hard to sustain my home. So my advice is to do something for your that entertains you.
