Are you a first year entering your second year, or a second entering your third?
Ok, so you really don’t have much room to work with unless you discovered you were massively underpaid in year 1 compared to both market and your office. You’re probably in line for an annual raise of some kind, I’d ask a senior associate you trust what the yearly raise norm for juniors is in your office. But going in and saying “I want to renegotiate my salary” isn’t going to get you anywhere, except maybe the door. You’re only a year in, you accepted the salary you were offered at hiring, so you need real evidence for why you should get anything besides a standard class year/COL upward adjustment.
It’s normal in business PERIOD to wait until sometime between March and May to hand out raises and bonuses, due to the nature of the fiscal year and of tax season. It’s likely whomever you’d bug about salary in February won’t have the necessary data and direction from Finance until March or later. Patience.
