I (also an Asian Female) had a 3.067 from Cornell in mechanical engineering with a 770 GMAT and Booth accepted me! I wrote about being a woman of color in construction and about my rock-climbing hobby. I think you’ve got a shot, just make your essays interesting! And your GPA explanation essay compelling as well.
Your 770 will definitely help to overcome the sub-par undergrad performance.
Assuming you are fluent in a language other than English, you should have a strong shot at INSEAD since they don't report average GPAs on a 4.0 scale (basically because they don't have critical mass of students on a 4.0 scale).
MBAMath likely won't help. You might consider taking a formal math course to be able to point to a legit transcript with an A on it - showing that you are a different student NOW than you were during undergrad.
Is there an explanation of why you have a 2.9 GPA?
you definitely have a shot. Your 770 will really go a long way to overcoming your bad GPA. You should explain in your essay or additional information what went wrong at undergrad and how you will fix it
