23 (12 years ago). Came out to a close friend and coincidentally also told him I’m attracted to older men only.
This was in India. I was the first gay person my friends and family knew.
Still in closet about my 5+ year relationship though. Partner is 67 yo.

I was old, like 32!

I never officially came out… Some friends of mine asked if I was gay bc I’d never had a stable LTR with a girl… I kept saying no…and then I figured they were accepting so I brought a guy I met on craigslist out with me one night and said it was my boyfriend. Then I brought him to dinner with my mom, and told her “I’m dating this guy…” And she said “Oh okay.” And that was that. Was no big reveal party for me or drama. Been gay since. I was 29. No one was particularly surprised.

I’ve been out since I earned my undergraduate degree in 1978 at Penn State; in law school in Houston (1993-1996) I was out on Day 1 and started the gay law students group. As a member of the Texas Bar, was one of the founding members of the LGBT law section of the Texas bar association. I moved back to New Jersey, got admitted to the NJ bar and shortly thereafter joined in the effort to pass NJ Domestic Partnership Law, was named to the Civil Union Commission and co-authored the Commission report recommending civil marriage in New Jersey. I REFUSED to go back in the closet.

Thank you :)
20ish? The first person to know was my boyfriend at the time (I'm a guy) and I guess my housemates since I was bringing him over, my parents were next, and then it was public.

I figured it out when I was 19. I didn't tell anyone til I was 20. Told my parents when I was 21. The first person I told was my best friend. Second person I told was my sister.
I was either 18 or about to turn 18. I first told a close friend who I knew was also bi (ended up dating her later on) and then months later started coming out to friends and family.
I have always been out to myself, never tried to date girls but chose to stay in the closet till I finished college. Then I came out first to my best friend, which I suspected being gay too, and he was!
Mid 30s. First was my therapist, then my aunt and then my brother.

My friends at school all knew, but my family didn't. Actually got outed by a very close relative. We all went out to the drive-in and I kissed my gf and I thought my relative had fallen asleep. Boy was I wrong. They told my Mom that we kissed and how and for how long. Then my Mom who was very close to her sister's, called all 4 of them and the rest is history.

19. I came out to my sister.
It seemed like most gay men come out to females at first because we subconsciously expect more compassion from them than straight men.
