I spend 25-35 hours a week on client. 10-20 on BD. 5 on other stuff. On a normal week. Unless you’re in a BD specific role, the majority of your time at any level will still be dealing with the client.

Gotcha. Well in terms of OPs question then I guess the answer would be almost zero :) I don’t think many PPMDs work hands on and own a deliverable. Reviews and inputs? Definitely. Owning the deck creation? Hell no.
I don’t think it ever stops in current era of consulting. Few firms have admin only partners. You could become full time BD
I meant in terms of hands on client delivery (fulfilling the SOW). Selling to clients or any internal admin would not count under this definition.

I think manager is the level where the distinction starts. People who move up should have at least 20-25% time spent outside client work. SM/Director should be selling even more and their cumulative hours across the year should have client work at 70%. So PPMD aspirants should be selling more than delivering.

Huh? What is “rest 30%” and what is “org development”? I’m at D so maybe these terms are different but I don’t understand these. And a billable year is 2080 not 2250 at D (and everywhere else I’ve worked). And I’m still a PPMD “aspirant” going up in 1-2 years so not sure what point you’re trying to prove. PPMDs I know don’t spend the majority of their time on BD - a lot of it, yes. More than 49%? No.
What level are you KPMG1? Are you a PPMD or is that your next level?
