At what point do have to accept you’re not cut out for your role and give up? How many months / years.

I usually try to give it atleast a year. There have been many roles over the years that I thought I wasn't cut out for but I hung in there and as it turns out, I was.

like

This gives me a lot of hope. I want to stick it out because I feel like id be wasting a year if I quit. Would you say your tenacity has paid off looking back?

Until they fire you

like

If after a year you are struggling, it may be time. It typically takes a year to get good a job, so if after then you are hitting a wall, it may be time to cut your losses and look elsewhere before you are asked to leave.

like

I give it a year. But usually I would know after 6 months but I will try endure it until a year so the record won't stain my resume.

like

I’m not struggling per say, but I just feel like I should know more..?

How long have you been in the role? I think after 1.5 years, it's time to evaluate whether the role is working or not. It's ok if not, but up to 2 years I would say is the max

six months to a year, tops. You would usually know right away in the first three months if you want to continue a job or not. good luck!

I’ve known people who worked in M&A for 6-12 months then switched to a lower stress role like FP&A and love it, they figured out either the lifestyle of working 70+ hours a week wasn’t for them or they just couldn’t learn at the pace that was expected of them. None of them regret leaving but more so I’m glad I tried

Hi,

Just received a call from GOC for one of the position
What's the Voice Assessment round & how long will be the technical interview?

Considering switching careers:

I got hired straight out from college 5 years ago from a small CPA firm and have worked in Tax ever since. Lately, I feel like this is not what I'm actually into. What else I can do with my Accounting degree?

My passion is Real Estate and Interior Design, love Managerial Accounting, I can sit for hours analyzing data, I also have a degree in Supply Chain Management.

My passion cannot feed my family but I've been burned out so much after years in Tax. 😞

No other offer as of now. Any suggestions on this situation. I am trying in other companies as well.
Can I depend on Infosys that they won't revoke offer or create any issue.
Also I am going to ask Infosys to postpone joining by 15 days as I don't have any Break post my LWD from current company.
Layoffs, offer revoke , joining postponed and hiring stoped... All this news 😥

My company has given me a promotion without a raise. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Little background:

Asked for promotion in late 2020 - was required to skill up, after skilling up, asked again about when I'll be promoted and was denied because there is no "vacancy" for it.
Got my annual hike in Oct 2021 without the promotion. I asked HR last week again and got a random announcement email saying my promotion is w.e.f Oct 2021. ( and no raise for the newly promoted role).
