I've worked at the same engineering firm for 4 years. I'm currently making $161k with only a $750 bonus, but excellent vacation (4 weeks, cash out anytime, rolls over indefinitely), 45 hours a week. I have an interview with a recruiter at Guidehouse this week for a Technical Project Manager role. It seems to be focused in the government space and requires a security clearance. What sort of salary and benefits could I expect for this sort of role at Guidehouse?

And you realize that only Partners make that kind of Money in India, right?
D2, bro that's like INR 12L... that's a starting salary for MBA analyst in TCS
Salaries for most international roles are less than the US counterparts. Not helpful, but the common theme
The Purchasing Power Parity index is 12, so if you make 100,000 you would need to make approximately 1200000 Rs to have similar purchasing power.
D4, where you getting the PPP data?
Dang, I miscalculated that shit! Thanks SC2, I almost felt disheartened about never being able to make enough on PPP basis
So I guess, if you have your housing situation taken care of... You don't really need to make that much money
I wonder how did u calculate that...
Yup. True that. If you are above 20L, you are okay!
Yeah, all you need to do is multiply your current US pay by 12, you have your target wage
I'd like to see how you come up with these rules of thumb of 12. Also how can you discount one of the biggest cost bucket, which is rent / mortgage. I paid similar rent in Mumbai to what I pay in the US. A car is more expensive in India, and so are clothes. The only thing cheaper is probably food. So if you are talking about taking a massive lifestyle hit ... sure 12x makes sense .
