Bad experience with Eightfold.ai - I spent 2 months interviewing with them for PM role, got the offer but they were offering really low level and comp. The recruiter was really disrespectful when I turned down the offer - he insisted on having a call after I rejected, and then told me how I wasn't fit for anything more than offered, and how I should have clarified before on comp and level, and started giving me unsolicited advice on how to recruit going forward. Left a really bad taste!

Kill them with kindness/civility because rude people don’t matter in the long run. A recruiter for my current job was frustrated and raised his voice, when I said it was concerning that my start date was being pushed. I asked him if he was worked up about it, he backed the heck down like a non entity.
Shine light on rudeness clearly, and watch them backtrack.

Well, the hiring manager was someone I knew and wanted to work with, so it’d be my loss to walk away because a recruiter had excessive adrenaline response.
The beautiful thing that recruiters and HR seem to forget is that labor is a free market like any other subject to supply and demand. If you think your work is more valuable than what they are willing to pay then both sides should amicably move on. This is very much an employee-favored market right now.
Unless you already explicitly talked about salary requirements (in which case I agree with them) then no one knew this wasn’t going to work out. Just another reason to post salary bands IMO…
Exactly, I think the onus is on the company and recruiter to clarify expectations ahead if they don't offer competitive salaries. More than anything, being respectful is the most important thing as it indicates company culture.
