I got a remote L6 SWE offer at Google but the RSUs are too low for that level ($625k over 4 years), could not negotiate it higher. I’ve accepted the offer but trying to be hopeful that I could make it more equitable in the future if I perform well. Are stock refreshers based on the initial RSU grant or solely based on performance? Google

🇺🇸 thank you for your service
Feel like there should be a tool showing comparative value of skill sets in private sector jobs to help vets step into the workforce/calibrate their resumes accordingly.
I’m sure there are I guess I just meant a more handy publicly available app or something. I’m not sure what’s out there for you guys but not aware of a common reference website or app.
Correct me if I am wrong but that 70 K also came with the ability to retire with a pension at 38 (assuming you went in at 18), free tuition at college, lifetime medical, and free housing while active duty. I’m not taking it a job that pays incredibly well, but the perks aren’t so bad.
Also have you seen military housing - not quite top of the range and while you get a pension it’s not an amount you are able to live on!
service dates were 1999-2020
Be kind because you went into a career that you knew was low paying? What's this about?
Am I wrong? This post screams "feel sorry for me, I made a decision I knew what it was and want recognition."
Ha I started on $15k equivalent then my first hold before flying training was a $200m procurement. People don’t know how good they have it in consulting
By your table I’m guessing you were an E8 when you retired?
Your table is misleading however as it doesn’t include BAH, BAS, any airborne or hazardous duty pay etc. that doesn’t negate the fact that military pay is generally below comparable civilian roles but you need to create a different table that incudes all pays and allowances.
All for a commander and chief that famously said “but what’s in it for them?” when walking through Arlington national cemetery
