We (I and wife) are looking to buy a 2+ bed condo in Chicago area by this September.

We are doing research pretty much on our own for the houses. So, I am looking for any references for buyer's agents who could offer us good commission rebate and help us with just basic stuff like paperwork and reviewing disclosures etc.

I think it's easy to blame the increasing rates of COVID-19 in the community on people not wearing masks. Personally, I blame it on the glaring failure of the federal and state government and the public health system in the USA.

Had my 1:1 with my People Lead yesterday to prepare for talent discussions. Said I had a great year - but need to work on being consistent. She said when I’m engaged it’s great but need to keep it going. I’ve mentioned my ADHD previously but I’m sure she doesn’t know all the components of what that means. We’ve had org issues - no clear role descriptions or expectations. Yes I do have a hard time staying engaged (and I’m medicated - Vyvance in the am, dextroamphetamine at noon). Thoughts?

Curious what the average salary is for Practice Manager is out there, and if I’m being paid appropriately. I’m a current Practice Manager in the Chicagoland area. Was interviewing with a firm and soon after receiving an offer, learned of bad culture/toxic partners in the practice group from a couple of associates who recently lateraled from the firm. I turned the offer down. A partner that I clicked with while interviewing reached out asking me why I turned down the offer. Should I be honest and relay what I heard?

Do big law firms typically need references when you lateral from another big law firm? I don’t think I suck at my job but haven’t made close partner connections at my current firm so not sure who I would ask.

I applied for a lateral job in a growing group that doesn’t have associates yet. I talked to a sr. associate in a different office/group to get a better sense of the firm’s vibe and we both really enjoyed our call. He kindly offered to recommend an interview to HR. Is there anything else I can do? I would be switching practices altogether so I want to be as proactive as possible to know what I’m getting myself into (and make my app more favorable because I really want to break into the field).

Just lateraled into big law from a boutique corp firm. I’m a mid level. I’m struggling to understand what is and isn’t billable. Do people actually bill reading emails? How do you describe that? Anything else I should bill (and how should I describe these things) that aren’t as obviously as like actively drafting?

Any news on vedder price? I’ve heard they didn’t fire anyone during COVID but have also heard it’s a sweatshop. Any insight to their litigation team would be helpful, thanks!

Someone needs to explain to me why I need to urgently (like yesterday) explain a matter to the people running the specific part of the deal (noting to them that OC’s request is nonsense because Y) only to be copied two days later - “my colleague X will provide”.
