Booz is offering my 170k as an Associate, currently Consultant at 98, up for promotion this year, expecting 120k. Should I take it?

No you should not. It will be the worst move ever 🙄

likefunnysmartuplifting

OP, I have worked for Booz a couple times now and the culture was good in my experience. I worked in the SIG last time so it provided a little difference experience than the market teams. Booz is not an up or out company and will happily let you stay at whatever level ours comfortable. The work/life balance was great as well. Not sure what your skills are but be prepared to network and figure out where they plan to put you. One piece of clarity I would ask for is whether they have a position lined up or if you’re a capability hire. All in all, seems like an easy decision to take it. Worst case you move on in a year or so

Sick humble brag

Is this really a question? That’s super high for a Booz associate

Do you have any reason not to based on this massive salary jump?

If Deloitte Fed to Booz Fed its a no brainer. Take it.

How did you manage a jump that big at BAH? I thought they paid crap?

like

Of course, you shouldn’t! You should in your right mind turn down a 72K pay raise, and instead wait on a non-guaranteed promotion that will pay you 50K less :).

Why is this even a ?

likehelpfulfunny

Don’t worry guys - I’ll take OP’s offer

but this is def a humble brag lmao

likeupliftinghelpful

Sure they're not offering $70k?

likefunnyuplifting

What do you do? 170k is usually Lead Associate or Senior Associate range.

like

Just came from Booz and that is the highest I have ever heard for an associate. That is what Sr. Associates typically start at. Take the money

Either it’s to slot you into gov role with a supporting bill rate (honestly not hard with shitty public sector margins) OR whatever group you are interviewing with is so hard up for talent they need to pay a market premium.

Either way feel free to cash in now, but if you hit the bench you are likely to get canned quick

likeupliftingsmarthelpful

Take it. Also, Booz generally has a much better culture and wlb than Deloitte

likefunny

Think I'm calling bs. My friend is a lead associate over there and I showed him this post. He said no way you're making that at booz until you're a seasoned senior associate.

So how many years of experience do you have?

likeupliftingfunny

OP has an advanced degree, so government is willing to pay a decent rate for them. Booz is having trouble finding a resource so they are paying an out of band salary.

Don’t hate on the OP, they spend a lot of time in school and have real skills. Not your average Booz consultant with a liberal arts degree or an MBA from UMD

likefunny

Take less money and tell your friends it’s harder to get into Deloitte than Harvard

funnylike

Lmao @ $170k Associate...the VP wouldn’t even sign off on that because you would make more than a majority of the LA and possibly new Senior Associates.

I have many options to consider but two options below are what I’m thinking of right now.

I want to see your thoughts on which one I should pick.

Job A: Project Engineer. 135K/yr base. 10% signing bonus.

Job B: Senior Project Manager. Contract. $60/hr standard. $90/hr overtime.

Additional Information added / pinned in the comments.

Hello all, I’m planning to get a masters degree, but I’m not sure what should I get. I need something that’s going to get me to 150-200K/Yr range. Please tell me about your thoughts and experiences. If anyone is making more than 140K/yr let me know how do you do that? 😂

Does anyone know about the component "Monthly Advance performance bonus"?
If I resign before 1 year, Do they deduct it from fnf?

like

Was recently offered comp of 160k with 20% bonus was informed will not receive bonus for 2022 due to time of year (too late based on hiring date) Therefore I'm curious to say if I should be asking for higher salary base or a sign on bonus in lieu of the lack of bonus since I won't be receiving a bonus until 2024 technically?

Thanks!
