I feel the same. It’s the first Fourth of July where I’ve felt “meh.” We are slipping from first-world status to developing-nation status all due to IQ45 and we as a nation act it as well.
I’m not as proud of this country this year as I normally always have been - and I’m a descendant of one the signees of the Declaration of Independence. I hope it changes come November 2020.
^ exactly. the US loves to boast being “developed” and rich while plenty of our citizens live on food stamps and poverty wages and are one medical bill away from bankruptcy
Born in other country came to US going throug a naturalized citizenship process now I am proud to be a part of this great nation and giving my full support to the president of the United States because no matter what he has been elected to be a president of this country through a democratic process.
D4—is spot on.
Clintons will be going to hell. Absolutely disgusting what they have done, especially to Haitians.

All this has happened before. All this will happen again. Focus on your own life, what you control, what you have influence over. If that includes public service then go for it. If it doesn’t, then know that we live in an age where 24/7 media is driving us (demonstrably) nuts. None of this is controversial.

I get it Op. I am a naturalized citizen to the United States. While the United States is giving me more opportunities and a greater amount of safety in the country and I was born in and the countries that bordered my birth country, the reason I have all of these opportunities is because of people like you who recognize the need for improvement and helped implement changes.
People in the United States saw a need for changing isolationist policies after WW2 and half a century later, people like me seeking asylum benefit from that criticism that paved the way to citizenship.
People who have the ability and means to enact change are usually those that care most deeply about the country and improving it. There are so many countries in the world where citizens are silenced in the name of patriotism. I’m am so proud that the US is not one of them.
