1 thing that has resonated with me on this App throughout Covid, is that the beliefs I held about my consulting colleagues were completely & totally wrong. A variety of the discussions, particularly those re: the political environment in the US & the widespread movement to pursue equality, have demonstrated that many of my peers are sociopaths incapable of exercising the same objective & critical thinking skills they they apply when charging clients hundreds hundreds of dollar an hour.

People of Color, how do you deal with an all-white team who doesn't acknowledge your (worthy) accomplishments while pats all incompetent employees?

Have you tried encouraging cards highlighting their strengths? When’s the last time you said “Thank you” out loud to everyone in front of everyone? Bought lunch? Participated in a team building event? Encourage a team atmosphere and keep the lines of communication open. Just my thoughts

I've been thinking about my career a lot lately. I feel like I've hit a wall, and I don't know how to get past it.

I've been at this job for almost 5 years now, and ever since the day I started, there have been problems with my coworkers. It's not just one person—it's everyone in my department, and they all seem to be working against each other instead of together. Should I leave?

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.

So...seems like shut downs are headed our ways. Why are schools requiring us to come in? I worked for multiple teachers last shut down, and honestly went above and beyond any other para in our building. I have three kids ages 8-11. My coworker consistently comes in 30min -1hr late every day. Plus they have the balls to take long 1hr or more lunches AND leave early. Our manager doesn't seem to notice. How do I bring this up?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

I am not sure who needs to hear this but exactly one year ago, I was at my lowest point in life. Today, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. Life has truly been a rollercoaster these past few years for me.

Husband is a multi sport coach and gone a lot in season, I work in corp banking. Thinking about getting a travel trailer since I camp alone with the kids a lot in the summer, spring and fall for quick weekends. Does anybody do this where you take, maybe 1 day, to create multiple 3 day weekends scattered throughout the year for little trips instead of taking vaca in longer stints? For those who have been working hard to eat well and exercise during the pandemic, how is everyone doing?

One of the primary aims of the criminal justice reform movement is to help ex-convicts re-enter the workforce by sealing criminal records, and making it more difficult for employers to judge applicants based on criminal history. The idea is that people are redeemable and capable of reform. Yet the same movement thoroughly enjoys getting people fired and publicly shaming them for making arguments they find “offensive”. A rapist is capable of reform, but not someone who makes a dumb tweet. Got it.

My fiancé’s family has a vacation planned at the end of June in Florida (small beach town about 45 mins from PCB). We’d be flying from California if we decide to attend.
