The remote vs. on prem battle highlights how bad performance measurement is. If someone can perform at an acceptable level, it doesn’t matter where they are. If you have no idea whether or not they are performing, checking the temperature of their office chair is a pretty poor proxy for actual business results. And, if someone isn’t working while you aren’t right behind them, what makes you think they’re working when you are a few cubicles over, and not monitoring them?

But but so and so famous CEO says being in the office is better, so it must be…

I am from EY India (2 years ++)
What's the best way to approach my counselor for a relocation to another city so that the counselor/manager approves without any issue..
Obviously it won't happen overnight, I have to give my handover and that could take a month, I am fine with that.

Anything I should take care of before joining new location?
Please provide some tips..

Thanks in Advance!

Best place to find accurate market valuations? I’ve read over and over that self reporting sites like Glassdoor and Payscale aren’t accurate and not considered legitimate by large corporations when negotiating salary.

Any tips to negotiate fees with different consulting firms to make the most of the terms of the agreement? - I get the impression that many agencies push bundle pricing to allow themselves the opportunity to use less expensive resources. Eg, they put a proposal showing a management team full of big names and a few Sr partners with a lot of experience but I get the impression that ultimately the work will not really be done by senior associates. City of Houston Legal Dept - anyone know what placed on referred list means in the context of a job application?

We’re looking at possibility RFPing media agencies for our brand. We want to narrow the list to those with specific experience.

Does anyone know if the following agencies meet these criteria? Or any general insights on these agencies?

Agencies: OMD, Mindshare, Mediacom, Carat

- Strong local buying
- Strong processes (ways of working)
- Agility
- Digital (localized & optimization)
- CPG experience
- Alcohol experience
- Beer experience

Are there anything dumber than cover letters? What an archaic part of an application.

Additional Posts in Senior Leaders and Executives Only

I set up a call today with an even more senior leader (I am an EVP) and asked him for advice on navigating the political waters of our global workplace. He was so honest and helpful it was .....amazing. I don't think I expected it to be so genuinely helpful. I highly suggest you reach above for advice if needed. Sometimes it works!

How do you let go of the need to be liked by subordinates? I have a people pleasing streak.

Prepping for a CRO interview with the CEO of a smaller tech company (approx 70 employees) experiencing explosive growth. They want someone to run sales, alliances, & marketing, with heavy influence around product development so not really a traditional CRO role. Working on prep and curious if anyone has any ideas around questions I should be prepared to answer? Questions I should ask? Seems like an interesting role that should be a good fit with my background. Other thoughts?

How long on average have you all stayed in one position? How about tenure at each company?

Hi all. I’m a ux designer at a small company and need to recruit a few people for usability testing. Our target demographic is people over the age of 35 who’ve been in leaderships positions. If you’re interested I’ll send the link- the test will take about 15-30 minutes and pays 20$. No human interaction required.

How people get on the board of directors position, I see few paid Recrutment firms do they really help or are those more of scam? One opportunities I get to talk with company the age becomes factor (~38), is it too young to get on BOD? With very specific pharmaceutical/ Bio tech experience in Quality, Compliance and Manufacturing, with leadership roles .

I’m currently considering an offer and am finding that all online compensation benchmarking is falling flat in terms of understanding how I should be looking at comp for this role. I’d value your advice on how to access cleaner comp data and/or how you might look at comp for this role: Chief People Officer for a $2.5BIL revenue ($150MIL net income) global organization. 50,000 employees. USA based. Looking for Total Comp and cash targets/benchmarks.

Does anyone have experience sitting on boards? I’m interested in doing this at some point in my career, but am not sure how to get started and what’s typically required (both qualifications and work involved)

Has anyone worked with an executive recruiter or headhunter to identify opportunities and support placement into a new role? Any referrals? Specifically in the digital product, innovation or design field.

Does anyone have recommendations on an approach to get frequent feedback on employee sentiment across your teams?

I lead a global team of ~70 and growing. Most of the team is deployed to major company initiatives and pressure is high. We do big annual employee surveys, but I'm looking for good ways to get more regular feedback at scale.

How do senior leaders/ executives manage their career and find the next opportunity?

What’s the best way of encouraging young team members to actually disconnect during their time away? I have some individuals that will not take actual vacations, they say, “I’ll have my laptop and phone”. My response is “please leave your laptop at home and turn off teams and outlook phone notifications. If there is an emergency and we have a question only you can answer, we can call or text. we’ve got this.”

And then they teams checking in 2 days later 🤦🏼‍♀️

What are your biggest frustrations with the wellbeing/burnout prevention initiatives that you’ve seen?

Thoughts? What could be going on here?

Our company is going through a major transformation and there is quite a bit of resistance due to uncertainty and lots of broken promises. Are there any books you would recommend on how to change corporate culture and help employees adapt to change?

I am a Senior Project Manager for a custom estate builder. We build homes over $50mm in construction costs for the ultra wealthy. I have been with this firm for 15 years and make $350K annual. There is only one partner and the sole proprietor who is essentially retired. They split ~$5MM in profits per year. I have reached the limit on title / career progression in my company - nowhere upwards to go. I highly doubt they will ever partner anyone else into the business. Do I leave?

Working my way up the corporate ladder. I have so many thoughts on leadership and want to initiate changes in the departments I work with. But at this level it's so difficult. Ppl are so resistant to change.

My key learning thus far in my career: Noone gives a shit about your ideas unless you're a head honcho. Real change is brought about from a position of authority.

Time to ask: anyone have a solid list of recruiters who work with agencies? Looking to move my talents (biz dev/new business) to a new shop.

I appreciate your help in advance if possible!

What things have direct reports done that have impressed you? I have one - one of my managers just sent me an extremely perfect mid year review with actions milestone outcomes - bottle necks. So simple and clear to measure success for end of Q4. Thank you 🙏 hiring god who found this employee.
