I’m currently considering an offer and am finding that all online compensation benchmarking is falling flat in terms of understanding how I should be looking at comp for this role. I’d value your advice on how to access cleaner comp data and/or how you might look at comp for this role: Chief People Officer for a $2.5BIL revenue ($150MIL net income) global organization. 50,000 employees. USA based. Looking for Total Comp and cash targets/benchmarks.

We did some research in evaluating compensation of our roles and found that sites for sharing compansation had a lag between what was there and the current market by about 13%. Hope that helps as well.

Asking for wife who's also in banking. If she got ~$100k in signing bonus in 2019 for 1 year commitment in CA and started FT in July 2020, assuming she leaves before July 2021, can her employer claw back full amount in California? Some say it's much tougher to do so under CA law but wonder if anyone has any insights. Banks won't likely care about analyst signing bonuses, but associate bonus at EB with diversity bonus can be significant. If she quits before, she won't be going to another bank.

UK market is open only for niche skillsets ( Data engineer + analytics). Firms aren't interested in sponsoring rest all skill sets, as they can be filled internally. They have limited quota every year, and are very choosy when it comes to allocation. Preference is first given to EU nationals and then Asians during shortlist stage.

Referral works, but the person who is referring you should have enough clout in the organization to present your profile!

I joined pwc last month, and absolutely hating it here. Each weekend has been working, 12-15 hours work day is minimum expectation. And there's extreme hierarchy, where even after you spend 24 hours working on something, the director decides he wants something completely different and you delete and restart. (Note that you request them to review and give their pov earlier on, but they never take the time out)
