That's good and apt advice. What I've found is that you can start taking on more work and make accommodations to fit it in. And you don't realize what's happening until, like the old story of the frog in the slowly heating water, you're really being cooked. It's healthy to sometimes take a step back and have a good look at what you're doing and make adjustments accordingly.
I would add, those things that lead you to feel unappreciated or undervalued that you tuck away or ignore. But you know they bother you. Those things add up and I can't explain it. But one day you're just going to hit a wall and it's impossible to think about working without those things overwhelming you
Fully agree. It's better to prevent burnout than deal with it after the fact. I always tell my people to set realistic boundaries with your employer. For example, don't respond to work requests after working hours, and don't feel guilty for doing so. Also, mindfulness goes a long way. If you're at work, then work. If you are relaxing with friends or family, then relax.

So true. It took me a few years to recover from a terrible case of burnout. I never want to get back to that place
