In addition to that, (yes, I feel it, too), if you are living paycheck to paycheck, you cannot afford to take time off to be sick. ☹️
That's understandable, sometimes we feel guilt over letting people down. If someone is sick, however, it's better if they don't come in and make other people sick. So far our team is keeping it together, but before winter ends we'll probably have that scenario we all pass some germs around and see how many people can get incapacitated at once.

Yeah, you’re absolutely right. Me and my girlfriend have been sick for the past. It seems like a month or so. Both missed work and feel terrible about it.
I felt that way a lot, but I also knew I needed to take care of myself. If I didn’t I couldn’t perform to the best of my abilities. With me, I had toxic managers that would get upset with me when I did have to call out and made me feel terrible for it just based on their tone over the phone. I thankfully don’t have to deal with that situation anymore but it certainly stressed me out knowing I had to go back to work once I felt better and then deal with the attitude.
Stop setting yourself on fire to keep others warm. Setting aside the possibility of getting others sick when you show up with an illness, your job is not your entire life.

You’re definitely not alone. That guilt is real, especially when you care about your team—but taking care of yourself isn’t letting anyone down. Rest is part of being responsible, not selfish. 💛
Don't feel bad, you have to do what is best for you. When I start to feel bad I remember that my colleagues are not thinking about me when they are sick. They are thinking aobut what they need to do for themselves.

I hope your team is not making you feel guilty! If Covid taught us anything, isolating when you’re sick is best for you and everyone around you.
Honestly yes take care and feel better ,
but there also a lot of leaders / managers that take advantage of calling out and being sick and intentionally are not available for there team and business.
Wishing you well with integrity.
And for the leaders that are not reliable, just leave and move on.

Yes! That guilt is so real. It shouldn’t feel wrong to take care of yourself, but years of work culture make it feel like you’re failing when you’re just human.
I lived this life.. work in my mind on days off, at night when I woke.. I stopped by work on days off.. went back to unload late deliveries off the clock.. keep in mind I was salaried. Had to respond to texts on my time even vacations.. They will drop you in a heart beat if it fits their directive. Your dedication will never be reciprocated by corporate america..
If they give you the time, take the time as you need it.. Thats your reward
I got Covid...1st time on Labor day weekend 2025 , took a vacation day off for Doctor appt and only missed 2 sick days of work . I didn't feel guilty at all , wanted to get better as quick as possible. Its doable if you happen to sick on holiday weekend
