Is an MBA really worth it for a career pivot?
McKinsey & Company Career advice needed. Thanks in advance. What would be a potential feasible path to make the transition from Big Four assurance role to MBB consulting role? I have 1 year experience in industry as FP&A and couple months as fund accountant before I graduated from school and went to Big four as IT auditor and could switch to core auditor ,cybersecurity or ECG advisory etc. I’ll get the CPA and CFA soon and have some basic coding skillsets. Considering to do MBA/graduate degree if necessary. McKinsey & Company PwC Deloitte

The CPA ones are really cringe. Like Academy Award acceptance speeches.
I was asked in an interview with a small CPA firm what my scores were. Luckily I had read an article to not share them. I said they were similar to my golf game, and I'm an okay golfer. My actual handicap is 20.
I dont have a problem with people posting a simple message like "excited to join B4 in the spring" but the ones I hate is when they type 3 fking paragraphs
I cringe when I see you dumping on these kids. We should be lifting up the next generation of our profession.
AM1: isn’t most of social media about wanting validation? I don’t like it either, but have come to accept it.
They passed the CPA exam. Let them post that on a network dedicated to sharing professional milestones. Y’all weird.
It’s easy. Just scroll past the post. I’m happy for people that are excited to start their careers.
Agree with OP. Every time I see one of those announcements, I just roll my eyes. So annoying
Big difference between a couple sentences for a status update and literal essays with 20 different people tagged for a gosh darn internship offer
I don’t care if they have pics/posts about drinking or drugs. If they have a dramatic self-promoting post, I recommend they aren’t hired during the interview process. These are the kids who need constant coddling despite mediocre performances.
I do get happy when people are successful, but sometimes these posts get too long, cheesy, and annoying. The other day I saw a post from someone who passed the CPA exam, which made me very happy, but the way she posted it was definitely to seek people’s attention and validation. It was super long and in it she was explaining how she passed all four parts of the CPA on her first try in like 5-6 months while working full time and finishing school and after some of her exams were canceled because of COVID - otherwise it would have taken her less time ..... omg it was too much. I personally know someone whose English was not her native language and who has faced tons of difficulties in this country but worked hard and studied for the exam and passed all of them in a month a half while finishing her Masters.
Point is she is the most humble person I have ever met. If you compliment her about her CPA success she won’t take it. She will in turn give you advice on how you can do it too. So that’s what I’m talking about. Sometimes you don’t need validation from strangers. Let your hard work speak for yourself.
Lol nah don’t be judgmental
Me to me: don’t say it, don’t say it, don’t say it....
Also me: You wanna see my B4 offer and CPA scores

I especially love the ones that pass with msgs like this and they post all their scores of less than 80.....

^ ditto pwc1. If scores are impressive, by all means go ahead and brag as much as you want. If you are making c’s all over that’s embarrassing more than impressive
I passed all 4 parts in 2.5 days while working full time . Maybe I should post it. Been to long ago to remember my scores.
