Whether or not that term would survive a “wrongful termination” suit depends on the state, the circumstances, and the evidence you could potentially bring to a lawsuit.
A lot of companies will unlawfully terminate employees without realizing they are breaking the law. But unless someone challenges them on it, they will continue to get away with it.

The harsh truth I learnt during my career is companies are within their legal right to terminate you for no reason whatsoever so as long as they give you notice and pay. (typically 2 weeks + severance).
I don't live in the US. Here the rule is 1 week for every year you worked as base minimum. But if you take it to a lawyer you can get up to 4 weeks per year.
This is not true. There are still laws that protect at will employees. If it happens, and I hope that it doesn’t, get a free consultation w an employment lawyer and see what they think
