Hi fishes! I volunteer with The Art of Good, a creative collective helping small businesses affected by the pandemic. They are seeking a little help from a media professional. Need an SEM POV for a small business looking to change their name and relaunch their brand. This is non-paid. More about giving back while in-between gigs. :) If you can help out or want to learn more, please reach out to me via LinkedIN. Thank you!! www.linkedin.com/in/karenkohn/

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Have you done the math on whether
(points $ valuation of purchases at current level) + card perks > annual fee ?
Easy to get looped into lifestyle expansion with these cards, at which point you'll end up spending money to 'save' money using card perks. 'Oh I should buy/subscribe to this since Chase reimburses $15 for spending $50'
Will the large expense trips become regular going forward though? And whether the points earned via annual trip expenses will cover the ~$450 difference between the preferred and reserve? You'll have to do some algebra to see how it pans out, but definitely worth sitting down and calculating which card makes more sense given the potential long term commitment.
Especially if you can't work travel expense on your personal card, I would say that most people aren't frequent travellers enough to justify the jump in annual fees
Try the new capital one venture x card..
I’m a loyal Chase customer for years and they pre-approved me for Reserve with 70K points. I’m thinking I could even negotiate with them for more points
Pro
Reserve hands down. Just got my year end and they paid out $480 in direct perks against my $500/yr fee.
i'd use a calculator on one of those point websites. it really depends on how much money you spend. i've had both and think they are less valuable then a few years ago
If you travel a few times a year the reserve is for sure the best option
If you do go for the preferred, I have a referral that gets you an (increased) 100k offer (I get 20k as a referral bonus kick back)
I have loved my CSP - had it for 3 months and the points add up quickly, especially if you use their travel portal, which is darn decent. And seems like a better promo right now than CSR.
I think this gets you some additional referral points, if helpful - https://www.referyourchasecard.com/6/F0LI473BSE
