Flat fare doesn’t include bridge/tunnel tolls
I had a cab driver recently tell me to book through curb but select “meter fare” and that it’s supposedly cheaper than the flat rate. But I haven’t tried it yet.
My $52 “flat rate” from JFK to Fidi ended up being $70 🥲
Curb always quoted more than the flat fee for whatever reason, so I always hailed the cab for airports. I lived in a busy intersection though. Not sure if “meter fare” was an option - I probs just missed it!
It was $52 flat but after tip I’d pay around $65.
For a tad bit more of a hassle/logistics, you can guarantee a trip to JFK via the trains for $20. Timelier than cabs due to their schedules too.
One bad traffic experience and multiple $70+ fares later, this is the way for me.
