Citi HR called me and started negotiating salary even before the interview. Also I was suggested I should speak to my family on the salary I am quoting. It's high time these HRs are trained not to parrot the same script they use for entry level kids, in front of senior folks in their 40s. Har was insecure about me moving out after the interview coz of salary. Unheard of elsewhere.

Is it misleading to just look at Total Compensation from a $ dollar value/ Total Compensation seems to be much more subjective than base salary in terms of its value. Some factors might be:

RSUs granted on dollar value or by # of shares & stock price trends
Vesting schedule
strike price on ISOs & delta between strike price and real market value

For instance, most of value in Amazon's comp seems to be granted in years 3 & 4, but it's well known that most people last only 2 years max there.
