In terms of work they do, I can only offer outside perspective, but seems to be pure strategy - eg new product planning, portfolio optimization, market entry, product launch, market access. They mentioned to me that their fees are higher relative to other life science strategy boutiques, but I can’t verify that.
Interviewed and had an offer from there. Overall seems to be a highly meritocratic biopharma strategy boutique.
They have 6 month review cycles, so trajectory can be pretty fast (eg Analyst -> Sr Analyst -> Consultant -> Sr Consultant -> Mgr -> Sr Mgr in 4.5 yr for one of my interviewers) Had also spoken with someone who’d turned down MBB to work for them because of lack of travel, life sci focus and interesting projects.
Comp at Consultant level is ~105k base, all in ~120-125k. Avg hr/week hovers around 60 from what I know.
Interested in people's views as well. Recruiter slid into my DMs.
Friend of mine worked there. Indeed a boutique shop, with heavy focus on pharma and med tech industries. Was founded in Boston, but now has offices in NYC and SF (both opened in last 2-3 years).
Comp was average (my friend joined as an Analyst in Boston with $70K base ~2 years ago). Not sure what level each of you would come in at.
Thanks @A1, that’s awesome intel. They reached out and I feel like it’s an opportunity to start down a specialization route I find interesting
Above responses are consistent with friend’s perspective. Strong firm in pharma. Hours can be 70-80+ depending on team and role, though they’ve hired quite a bit in the past year so hopefully will go down as new folks get up to speed.
OP and BC1 depending on your values it may be a good opportunity if you want less travel and develop expertise I. That field. Pharma pays well for those skills
Happy to answer and specific questions that haven't been addressed already. Agree on work, review cycles and there by promotion speed, meritocracy, compensation, and about 65 hours average per week.
