$110k at 3 years exp in advisory with only a secret? They'll transfer you to the comedian service line because that's a joke
10,000 points
Well that's why I posted and asked the question. So what do you think is appropriate?
That seems high
What are you being paid right now? I'd say you could maybe argue for 85-90k if you're a superstar. However, they aren't going to change anything for you at this point. Comp call is for them to just read you the script on why you're getting paid what you are.
What is your ideal? Also remember advisory pays less than consulting at D
Making a move at 85 isn't justifiable. It's only a few thousand difference and I have an industry offer at 95k.
Then at most you can ask to match the 95k and be ready to walk if they refuse
@OP, typically you can expect to negotiate for around 10%-20% higher than your current salary. When you ask for more, be ready to justify it with competing offer/ reasons you deserve more. Be ready to walk also as HR is pretty strict in following that guideline and willing to lose out on people than overpay.
@OP - but I would open with a request for 20% - 25% more than your current as they'll likely counter with a lower offer
I agree with senior manager 1 that you should aim higher. Don't listen to people that tell you a number is ridiculous. If you have the experience and can justify the difference you will be surprised with what they will do. There is often a lot of difference between people whether right or wrong.
I think this thread proves that firms do an excellent job removing transparency in pay to help underpay us relative to our bill rates :)
I'm a SC in Fed Advisory with a TS and CISSP. I'm making $78k. After posting my resume online I'm getting offers of $110-125k.
I was hoping at least 110k
It doesn't matter. They will give u what they give u.
Thanks D1, I appreciate it.
How they manage to retain clients after cyberattack
SM1: thanks
If you had been a campus hire in consulting, with higher than average ratings but not the top rating you'd probably be in the 85-90k range. Since you're interviewing with advisory, I'd say you're already higher than you would probably be at since advisory is lower salary than consulting. 110k is ridiculous. I know consulting managers in federal barely making more than that.
@OP - not sure about advisory, but senior band in consulting goes up to 150+ and manager band goes above 170 (speaking both from experience at Accenture and EY). Always ask, all they can say is no.
